Wat Phra Kaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is a royal temple inside Grand Palace. It was built in King Rama I’s reign to enshrine Phra Buddha Maha Manee Rattana Patimakorn or Emerald Buddha, the Buddha image of Thailand. Inside, there are other historical sites such as Temple of Emerald Buddha Museum or Royal Thai Mint. Have you ever noticed that there are no monks in this temple? It is because it is located inside the Grand Palace and it is not appropriate for monks to live in a residential area. Also it is for the royal family’s safety reason. Whenever there is a royal Buddhist ceremony, monks will be invited into the Grand Palace’s ground.

是一座皇家佛寺，建是在大皇宫的城墙内，建立于拉玛一世，帕峇颂德帕菩塔育华朱拉洛大帝，恩赐玉佛在此供奉。是泰国镇国之宝。

在玉佛寺内还有玉佛寺博物馆，或以前的铸币厂。

开放参观，可看到又能知到有关玉佛寺历史知识。

有一小细节SiamHOP告诉您，玉佛寺没有和尚居住，因为佛寺在大皇宫內，以安全为主。如果皇上想要做法事，可恭请外面的高僧到玉佛寺或大皇宫里。而且，僧人也不适宜住在大皇宫内。
