At the beginning of Rattanakosin, King Rama I commissioned many Buddhist temples. Still Brahmin was significant for religious rites and rituals. Devasathan Temple was built for this particular reason. Brahmin priest from the South was invited as the head priest for royal ceremonies as well as Giant Swing ceremony. If you are interested in the Brahman influence over Thai culture, make a trip to this historic site right in the middle of the capital city.
